When I was a kid, I found a little dead bird on the brick sidewalk outside our home. He had died beaten by the hail storm that invaded Bogotá that day. I took some of the hail around me and buried him in it. Mom had just seen me from the window, and boiling with anger, yelled at me to get back in the house and bring in the bird I had just killed. She tried to revive it as she cried and scolded me. However, all I was trying to do was to bury the little dead bird.
This menu holds the dishes that bring me back to my ever-slipping childhood.
I was the black sheep that wasn’t. I was misunderstood.
